Do you have any ideas for spiral curls or vertical curls?

Have you got any tips or tricks for long lasting curls? How do you create spiral curls or vertical curls?

Wow your locks look great! How you roll your locks determines what kind of curl you'll get. This is what I do:

1)Take the roller/Loc Loop and face it parallel to your locks
2)Wrap your locks around the bottom tip and then slowly continue wrapping upward around the roller so that your locks won't overlap each other. (This is similar to wrapping a cord around your finger for example).
3)Secure the roller
4)When you're ready to take them down, just simply pull the roller in a downward motion and that's how you get spirals.

Does this make sense?

I know that a tighter roll will create tighter curls, but since your locks are longer then I guess this is a different case. I've heard of people using products to make their curls last longer. I believe that there is a certain kind of roller that can create tighter and longer lasting curls. It's called "Wrapaloc". It's a bendable rod and you can wear it in your hair even out in public. I would like to try it some day.

The best, tightest, and long lasting curls I've experienced have resulted from doing bantu knots.

I've had success with foam rollers, but bantu knots are so much easier and since you can wear them as a style, you can keep them in for as long as you want and when you take them down, you have amazing spiral curls!!!

Inspirations and blessings,
Nat

OOh, if you're referring to Shirlet Temple curls, you HAVE to check you Brenda's blog. She's got the LOCKDOWN on spiral curls. You might have to email her, though. She hasn't updated in a while.

Hi Big Sis! Your curls looks great in these photos... how did you curl them. I've used lock loops, bantu knots, and even hot dog rollers- I think thats what they're called... each curl pattern looks different but I like them all. The curls achieved with the hot dogs always last until the next two week washing. HINT- Hotdog rollers are spongy but the outer part feels like plastic. They are long and come in pastel colors and are about as thick as a finger. I don't know the proper name this is what my stylist calls them... Hope this helps

Cute! I'm checking your archives because I'm looking for some long hair styles. We need to have an online "style party" since we're sooo far a part.

hi audrey, i am in berlin germany. i realize this is not the closest to munich but at least we are in the same country.
when i had traditional locs what helped me get a great set was making sure the locs were totally dry when i removed the roller. no matter what i used. bantu knot, rods, or loc loops as long i sat under the dryer or slept with the curlers in or left them in for a while the curl lasted at least for ages. that being said my hair was also totally saturated when i set it.
hope that helps

i use @ 150 locloops or perm rods depending on my mood; @ 2 locks per rod in the front and maybe 3-4 in the back. the curls last @ two weeks.
